I write from Europe where I teach psychology at a north Norwegian university. Thank you for the essay. The inside logic of these events have been puzzling. You might have mentioned
that it does happen that sometimes larger crimes end up in convictions of lesser crimes, eg, Al Capone, or the screenplay with Tom Cruise getting his mafia law firm on mail fraud.
