In 1960’s Ann Arbor cheating, drinking and gut courses were the administratively accepted norm, from simply procured exam exemption letters from the University Psychiatrist, to stuffed student government ballot boxes to failed attempts to scale walls in pursuit of copies of upcoming exams. Yet over and over again The University of Michigan overlooked the rampant school wide cheating, while continuing to tout itself as the Harvard of the Midwest.
